Mexican Lace Agate Small Moon Carvings

Mexican Lace Agate, sometimes called Crazy Lace Agate, is a banded chalcedony found exclusively in Chihuahua, Mexico. Its bright colors come from an infusion of iron and aluminum. Crazy Lace Agate is believed to have been created during the Cretaceous Period, 60-90 million years ago, and although it is young by geologic standards, Crazy Lace Agate was used by some of the earliest cultures in Northern Mexico as a protective talisman for warriors.

Called the "Laughter Stone" or "Happy Lace," Crazy Lace Agate is known for its energizing, sunshiny, joyful vibes. It absorbs negativity, whether it is negative emotions or something as sinister as the evil eye, which offers a protective element. Ancient Mexican cultures believed so much in the protective elements of Crazy Lace Agate that it has been found in jewelry worn by warriors.
