These beautiful Spiralite shells are only found in the Himalayan area of India, dating back 16 million years to the Cretaceous Period when the region was under a shallow body of water called the Thethys Sea.

Each shell is uniquely beautiful, and you can trust us to choose a special specimen just for you!

History | Science

The ancient Tethys Sea spanned the region from the current Indian Ocean through the Himalayas, separating the continents of Laurasia and Gondwana. It slowly disappeared over millions of years until the two continents crashed into each other, creating the Himalayas and leaving behind aquatic fossils such as a now-extinct leftward spiraling marine gastropod that, due to that tectonic crash, can be found in modern-day India in areas as high up as 16,000 feet!
These 67 million-year-old Chalcedony-replaced sea snails have captured the imagination of the scientific, as well as the metaphysical communities, as they contain pockets of sparkling druzy quartz within them. In fact, you'll primarily find these listed under “Gastropod fossil from India” as it is the Metaphysical community who has given them the "Spiralite" moniker.

Metaphysical Properties

Spiralite fossils are exciting due to their spiral as well as their quartz pocket. Like we have spoke of with Ammonites, the spiral is a long-held symbol of growth, expansion, renewal, and of order amidst chaos. Quartz is the "master healer" stone, amplifying energy and bringing clarity. These are powerful little fossils, holding a connection to higher realms of wisdom.

Photography

Although we always strive to provide clear, accurate images of our crystals and other products, we photograph under professional lighting, which is meant to mimic sunlight. If you get your crystal and think it looks a little different under low or artificial light, try checking it out again in sunlight!

Our crystals are one-of-a-kind art, created by nature.

No two pieces are the same, and there is no such thing as "perfection" in nature.

When it comes to our hand-carved items, remember that artists work with and around imperfections, druzy pockets, and other natural variations to bring each carving out of a piece of natural stone.

We consider these imperfections to be one of the most wonderful parts of crystal collecting, and we invite you to embrace each carving's uniqueness!

We will always try to portray each piece honestly, so be sure to look closely at our images and videos to ensure you know what to expect.
