In the family of Opals, there are precious Opals, such as Boulder Opals, which are the iridescent kind we're familiar with in jewelry and October's birthstone. And then there are "Common" Opals, which comes in lovely shades of pink, green, white, blue, and more. All opals are made of silica and water with the silica particles arranged in spherical shapes that can be seen microscopically. In Precious opals, these silica spheres are all the same size, arranged in a grid-like pattern that causes the light entering the opal to refract and producing their beautiful rainbow colors. In common opals, the silica spheres are different sizes and in disorganized patterns.
Since pink opal only comes from very few places- Peru, Mexico, and the American Southwest- it is a rarer color. There is a stone that is called Pink Opal coming from Australia, but it has a different composition of opalized radiolarite. More closely related to Mookaite, it is really a different rock entirely.
Pink opal comes in shades from coral to deep bubblegum pink, which comes from minute amounts of quinone, an organic compound more commonly found in plats, that was trapped in the stone during formation. American pink opal differs in that it gets its color from traces of Manganese.
Metaphysical Properties
Metaphysical Properties
Pink opal is a sacred stone to the many of the indigenous peoples from the Americas. For the Inca tribes in South America, in particular, pink opal was a divine link to their feminine deities. Pink opal certainly has a strong, compassionate, nurturing energy that links to the Divine Feminine- a balance of emotions, deep self love, and the inner healing that comes from these things.

Photography
Although we always strive to provide clear, accurate images of our crystals and other products, we photograph under professional lighting, which is meant to mimic sunlight. If you get your crystal and think it looks a little different under low or artificial light, try checking it out again in sunlight!
Our crystals are one-of-a-kind art, created by nature.
No two pieces are the same, and there is no such thing as "perfection" in nature.
When it comes to our hand-carved items, remember that artists work with and around imperfections, druzy pockets, and other natural variations to bring each carving out of a piece of natural stone.
We consider these imperfections to be one of the most wonderful parts of crystal collecting, and we invite you to embrace each carving's uniqueness!
We will always try to portray each piece honestly, so be sure to look closely at our images and videos to ensure you know what to expect.
