History | Science

Agate is formed when silica rich water is trapped in crevices of rocks, forming around the minerals included within. In the case of Pyritized flower agate with red robin chalcedony, one of the mineral inclusions is iron.
Pyrite is an iron sulfide found in places as varied as quartz veins, coal beds, metamorphic rock, and even as a replacement mineral in rare pyritized fossils. This means that pyrite shows up in many different formations, from the traditional "fool's gold" to the "flowers" in this pyritized flower agate! When pyrite is in a "strand-like" formation that is different from the cubic formation it is known for, it is oftentimes called Marcasite, which is why we have included the extra name here.
Red Robin Chalcedony is the name given to the unusual occurrence of red pockets, caused by the inclusion of iron.

Metaphysical Properties

Agate is a stone that is formed based on how it fills crevices in rocks. Similarly, agate fills a metaphysical space with truth and positive energy, replacing anything false or negative that might have been there before.
Each variety of agate has additional properties of its own, taking on the individual characteristics of the mineral inclusions that were trapped during the forming of the agate. In the case of Pyratized Flower Agate, Pyrite is included, lending its properties as a stone of vitality, confidence, and wealth.

Photography

Although we always strive to provide clear, accurate images of our crystals and other products, we photograph under professional lighting, which is meant to mimic sunlight. If you get your crystal and think it looks a little different under low or artificial light, try checking it out again in sunlight!

Our crystals are one-of-a-kind art, created by nature.

No two pieces are the same, and there is no such thing as "perfection" in nature.

When it comes to our hand-carved items, remember that artists work with and around imperfections, druzy pockets, and other natural variations to bring each carving out of a piece of natural stone.

We consider these imperfections to be one of the most wonderful parts of crystal collecting, and we invite you to embrace each carving's uniqueness!

We will always try to portray each piece honestly, so be sure to look closely at our images and videos to ensure you know what to expect.
