Fluorite (commonly known as "fluorospar" in the mining industry) is a halide mineral that is the mineral form of Calcium Fluoride. It shows up in a wide variety of translucent colors, including yellow, purple, blue, green, and more, based on the trace minerals within its structure. Fluorite is the only common mineral that has four directions of perfect cleavage, often breaking into pieces with the shape of an octahedron.
Fluorite also lends its name to "fluorescence," a concept named by George Gabriel Stokes in 1852 when he discovered the ability of specimens of fluorite to produce a blue glow when illuminated with light, which in his words was "beyond the violet end of the spectrum."

Fluorite is among the crystals that we think everyone needs in their life! It's a stone heralded for its abilities of spiritual detoxification, and once all of the negativity is cleared, what is left is clarity, self-confidence, and spiritual balance. For those reasons, it is also excellent for those of us who struggle to concentrate or with reading comprehension.
