History | Science

Satin Spar, usually called "Selenite" in the crystal world, is a form of gypsum, a classification it shares with Desert Rose, Gypsum Flower, and true Selenite. The only difference is the way in which each mineral crystallized. Like all forms of gypsum, Satin Spar is also a fragile mineral. It is easily scratched and broken, making it a good choice to enjoy its beauty in a lower-traffic spot where it will not easily be knocked.
Selenite gets its name from the ancient Greek goddess of the moon, Selene,
Peach Satin Spar Selenite is a natural variation of Satin Spar, where the mineral has formed in an area with a higher iron oxide content.

Metaphysical Properties

Satin Spar Selenite, like true Selenite, is a powerful high vibrational tool of soothing, cleansing, clearing, and shifting energy blocks.
One of the only self-cleansing crystals, its abilities extend to cleansing and charging other crystals, as well. Smaller crystals will often be placed on the surface of the selenite and left to cleanse and charge. In the case of carvings, the very presence of stain spar selenite clears the energy of a room!
In addition, mushrooms are a symbol across many cultures of new beginnings, good health, and good luck.
Altogether, we would say these mushrooms symbolize a beautiful day in a magical forest clearing- their soothing energy clearing the way for wonderful new beginnings!

Photography

Although we always strive to provide clear, accurate images of our crystals and other products, we photograph under professional lighting, which is meant to mimic sunlight. If you get your crystal and think it looks a little different under low or artificial light, try checking it out again in sunlight!

Our crystals are one-of-a-kind art, created by nature.

No two pieces are the same, and there is no such thing as "perfection" in nature.

When it comes to our hand-carved items, remember that artists work with and around imperfections, druzy pockets, and other natural variations to bring each carving out of a piece of natural stone.

We consider these imperfections to be one of the most wonderful parts of crystal collecting, and we invite you to embrace each carving's uniqueness!

We will always try to portray each piece honestly, so be sure to look closely at our images and videos to ensure you know what to expect.
